Internet Crime Complaint Center
IC3’s mission is to serve as a vehicle to receive, develop, and refer criminal complaints regarding
the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime. The IC3 gives the victims of cyber crime a convenient and
easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected criminal or civil violations.
For law enforcement and regulatory agencies at the federal, state, local and international level, IC3
provides a central referral mechanism for complaints involving Internet related crimes.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) system in the U.S. extends across the nation; coast-to-coast, and in
Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Since the founding of the first BBB in 1912, the BBB system has proven
that the majority of marketplace problems can be solved fairly through the use of voluntary self-regulation
and consumer education.
received a recorded phone call that I was being sued by the IRS….I called the #### left on the recording and nothing made sence….he sounded like he was from India…don’t know that for sure but said I owe 2,745.00 for 2008 to 2013… When they reviewed my taxes they were miss calculated……they said they tried to serve papers but no one was home to sign….I pray this is a scam…cuz he said I’ll be arrested tommarow morning…..this is the ### I called 202-684-6469…. I don’t believe the IRS conducts business this way….I hung up!
I received a phone call from a gentleman claiming he was from the IRS and said I owed several thousand dollars to them and threatened me that I was going to be arrested. He then passed me to a manager saying that I could settle it outside of court and pay them now over the phone =\ which I did not. They were very aggressive over the phone and I am worried that someone else will fall for it. They also knew my address.
Same thing here. He grew hostile immediately when I asked for confirming details. Would not repeat his “badge number.” Sounds like a scam and I reported it to the IRS impersonator fraud site: https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml Do not provide or confirm any details whatsoever to them. Or just don’t call back.
I have received multiple calls from different places and telephone numbers. All advise me that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me. I have not returned the calls but am extremely annoyed because they have awakened me very early in the morning. I have reported the calls to the link provided above. Thank you Stephen for the information
I receive about 6 calls a day claiming to be Social Security saying my number is suspended, I know it’s a scam and block the numbers as they come in. However I continue to get calls with area codes from all over the US. WHAT else can I do besides block the numbers as they come in?
